We recently completed installing this commission for clients that live in Loughton, Milton Keynes.
The idea was to have handsome cabinetry surrounding the TV with a box directly below the TV to house all the media equipment. A low-level piece runs along the wall under TV and partially frames two rows of adjustable glass shelves to the right of the TV. The unit is free standing with a shadow gap to the wall and cut outs around skirting board. The last photo above shows the unit in mid-construction in our workshop, and shows how we ‘dry’ build all our furniture first to ensure that everything will fit perfectly once transported and fitted to a client’s home.
The box under the TV ‘floats’ and has upright boxing to hide all the messy cabling to TV from media equipment. The cabinets all have solid oak front edges and lippings, and the carcasses are in oak veneered MDF. The cabinets have a hard tulip-wood skeleton and plinth frame, and toughened, low iron glass shelving with polished edges. The whole units has been finished with a dark brown stain and topped off with hard wearing clear lacquer.
