Study cabinet in an alcove

A while ago now, we fitted a study cabinet into an unused alcove for our clients who live in a wonderful Arts and Crafts house near Gerrards Cross.

The idea was to have a low-level, three drawer narrow cabinet fitted in alcove to left of the entrance hall of the house.
We made the drawer boxes in oak veneered MDF with solid lippings, and they sit on high quality full extension soft close runners.
The cabinet was designed to be slightly deeper than alcove, sitting on a hardwood frame, and all the drawers have antiqued solid brass handles.
The cabinet interior is constructed in high quality, oak veneered, moisture resistant MDF in a biscuited and carcass screwed construction, and finished in a hard-wearing clear lacquer. We have stained the exterior to tie it in with the nearby window frames, and then finished with clear lacquer. All the drawer fronts are in solid oak, with morticed and tenoned frames with step detail and veneered MDF panels.
All the cabinetry has oak framework with a detailed solid oak plinth and top edge detail. The four floating shelves are made in a veneered oak on MDF with solid oak lippings.
