We’ve just finished working at a beautiful period cottage, fitting an oak stable front door and internal hall door. We designed and made this beautiful solid oak stable door to complement the client’s Buckinghamshire cottage porch, and a stable door is the perfect way to circulate air and add light to a cottage with small windows.
The cottage front door is constructed with mortice and tenon joints with a drip edge fitted to the front, and diagonal bracing on the back finished in a high quality exterior oil. Fitted with high quality hinges, latch and bolts, our door is completed with laminated glass fitted to match the style of the porch. The internal door is also constructed in solid oak with mortice and tenon joints with an oiled finish, and fitted with a 5 lever mortice lock, elliptical solid brass handle and escutcheon. Both doors are fitted with a brush strip on the bottom edge and foam draft excluder on all the sides to ensure the doors are sealed and draft free.
Our client was thrilled with the bespoke doors and said, and we quote, “the doors are gorgeous, and I can’t believe how much warmer the house is!”
