We like this one! Want a way to use that precious but underused space under the stairs? We had some clients before Christmas that wanted just that. They could see that there had to be a way rather than just adding a small desk and a couple of shelves that would just gather dust and be useless in the long run. They came to us, and in conjunction with their specific needs, we designed this neat system that allows individual storage units to be pulled out when required. Here is the full spec. as usual.
Understairs storage system – consisting of carcassing fitted to interior of understairs aperture with three pullout cabinets:
The left-hand pullout features a low tray with high back (bag storage) and one shoe shelf.
The middle pullout features shelving for shoes and bag storage at bottom.
The right-hand pullout has a top shelf and a hanging rail with shelf space below.
All the pullouts sit on high quality, one directional, rubber casters with a park position to rear in floor and side guides to keep them in alignment and from rolling out by themselves and a bolt either side to stop them from rolling out too far – but enable them to come out for cleaning.
All the carcassing has been constructed in oak effect melamine faced MDF with biscuited and carcass screwed construction.
All the vertical shelf lips have solid oak upstand lipping.
Solid maple tongue and groove features bead detail to doors and panels, and is braced at the back.
All the handles are in hand-forged ironwork.
The exterior was primed ready for final coat painting by the client’s own decorator.
