We’ve been building some custom furniture for clients in Crafton, Buckinghamshire. Our clients wanted some attractive and modern low-level cabinets either side of the fireplace with a reclaimed oak mantle. Here is the detailed specification fort what we designed, made and fitted.
Oak veneered MDF tops with solid lippings are finished in hard-wearing clear lacquer, and feature a recessed plinth.
The moisture resistant MDF flat panel doors with recessed finger pulls are mounted on high quality, fully concealed, soft close hinges. The interior of each cabinet is constructed in oak effect melamine faced MDF.
All the exterior pieces finished with hard-wearing coloured lacquer in two colours of choice with finger pull rails and plinth a different colour to main cabinetry – please note that the colour choice can affect the final price as rich and bright colours can cost more than light, pastel shades.

Single door cabinet with oak veneered MDF pull out tray on full extension, soft close runners (for ash box) – door to open away from fire
Cable port in top with access hole to left-hand cabinet
Reclaimed oak beam mantel shelf wire brushed with high quality oiled finish – resin studded to wall.
Single door cabinet with adjustable shelf (not full depth to allow for cables) and ventilation in the bottom – door to open towards fire. Cable port in top.

Single door curved corner cabinet with adjustable shelf and cable management.
Double door cabinet with adjustable shelf – right hand door to be curved around end of cabinet.Angled cable boxing behind TV pre-primed ready for painting.
IR eye fitted within cabinetry – position near TV.
LED strip lighting around all finger pulls and plinth – controlled by one push switch.
The paint colours are – Moles Breath by Farrow & Ball, and Slaked Lime by Little and Greene.
