We were recently commissioned to design and make a large piece of furniture that would need to have several uses. One stipulation was that it would need to have a central display space for a beautiful antique model sailing ship that has been in the clients’ family for generations. This also meant we had to design the ship’s space around the scenery panel which had sat behind the model in its display cabinet for many years previously. A drinks cabinet was also to be incorporated, as well as lots of storage shelves for books, and spacious drawers for other items. We also built-in switched and subtle lighting using PIR sensors with all cables hidden cleverly out of view. The client chose European Oak as a timber which will eventually be lacquered to provide a hard wearing finish. You can read the full spec. below. Do you need something similar for your home?
