Sliding Doors

No, not that enjoyable rom-com feature film from 1998 starring Gwyneth Paltrow and John Hannah all about two characters living parallel lives, but one of our latest commissions for clients. We have been carrying out a fair amount of work in one house, and our client wanted the sliding doors already in place to matched to some furniture that we designed and made for the living room – we’ll put photos of this furniture up in another blog post very soon.

We removed the original doors, made good and re-lacquered them as necessary. We added recessed handles to the doors.
We removed the door frame and re-clad with it with super-prime European oak, which was then finished with hard-wearing clear lacquer
We made alterations as necessary to the skirting, and used super-prime European oak boxing on the dining room side to hold running track, finished with hard-wearing clear lacquer.

Finally, we supplied and fitted the high quality running system for the doors – with park positions, no threshold or strip across floor necessary. Clean and functional!
