Shelving doesn’t always have to be straight

Because of the spaces it usually goes into, shelving is by default straight – but it doesn’t always have to be.

Recently we made and fitted some bespoke shelving for our clients in Princes Risborough. Alcoves next to a fireplace in a sitting room are usually very good underused spaces to exploit, and our clients decided to use theirs better. We built the shelves, which are also floating shelves, i.e. you can’t see any visible means of support, and made the last shelf in a larger curved shape. The log basket fits perfectly under the bottom shelf, and we also fitted a cable port into the shelf for a lamp that will eventually sit on top. The shelves were finished in a pure white (RAL 9010, see here for RAL colour codes). So you see, an empty spaced transformed simply into a functional and attractive area of the room.
