Recent commission – a bespoke wardrobe in European Oak

essex1esxsex2essex3essex4We recently finished fitting a large wardrobe into a client’s house in Essex. This house is an old farmhouse with ancient beams and loads of character. This character also meant that the floor in the bedroom where the wardrobe was to be fiited was sloping, and so was challenging to say the least.

Undeterred, we made the wardrobe in European oak to the clients’ exact requirements including brass lion head handles, and brass butt hinges with finials. It also features serpentine curved rails, fielded panels, and etched mirror glass. The glass was etched to a Victorian urn pattern that we designed for the client. Inside there are pull-out shoe trays and double height hanging for garments. At one end there were shaped glass shelves with drawers below, to maximise the light and allow access to the window at that end.

We’re very pleased with the finished job, as were our clients – and our ability to make and fit exactly to size overcame the difficult but charming floor!
