Commission: Bathroom and dressing room cupboards and wardrobes in a 16th century cottage
Date of completion: April 2013
Description: The sloping floors and low beams and ceilings of this very old cottage presented a particularly difficult challenge. The client wanted storage for clothes, shoes, toiletries, towels and so on, so we had to adapt each storage cupboard to suit a certain purpose. The style is modern with the use of contemporary chrome fixtures and fittings, but we completed the cupboards in tongue and groove to tie in with the traditional look of the rest of the house.
Materials: European Oak for the bathroom vanity unit and for the top of the shoe cabinet. Everything else was constructed in tulipwood and then hand painted to give a traditional look and feel. Chromed hardware was used for the fixtures and fittings.
