Oak furniture by Mark Williamson Furniture Buckinghamshire

Sometimes it might be difficult to appreciate the amount of work needed to turn what are pretty much rough slices of tree trunk into beautiful, finely finished bespoke furniture.
The picture of the oak above shows in what sort of condition the oak is delivered to our workshops, in long and varying lengths of plank. Oak has been popular as a construction timber for thousands of years – it is dense, strong, and resistant to insect and fungal attack. Interestingly, oak leaves from the oak tree are poisonous to cattle, horses, sheep, and goats in large amounts due to the toxin tannic acid contained in them – though of course, squirrels and other animals love the acorns!
