Last week we went to shoot some decent images of our contemporary kitchen that we finished installing just before Christmas. These pictures will be used for our new website which will be up and coming very soon. We’ve very happy with the kitchen, and our clients who commissioned it are too. The photography was done by our good friend Adam …
Tools of the trade
We’re a fool for a tool, but the truth is, you really can’t do a high quality job without high quality tools. These pictured above are some of our favourites; Robert Sorby chisels, manufactured in Sheffield for the last 200 years, Lie-Nielsen hand plane, and Lie-Nielsen dovetail saw, all the way from Rockport, Maine, USA. We’ve owned most of these …
Ready to fit – bespoke desk and storage cabinet in Oak
We’ve just finished making this bespoke desk and storage unit in oak for some clients, and it couldn’t be more different to the bespoke and fitted ultra-contemporary kitchen we completed just before Christmas. Our clients live in old thatched house, so wanted the unit to blend in with and respect the old character of the rest of the house’s interior. …
A bespoke and ultra-contemporary kitchen commission – finished!
For at least a couple of months before Christmas we were burning both ends of the candle and pulling out all the stops to design, build and fit this beautiful kitchen for some special clients, and we just about did it. These are a few works in progress shots, and we hope to photograph it properly at some point …
Have van, will travel
This is our company van without which it’d be hard to get much done. There’s also room for a cage for Alfie (remember Alfie the workshop dog?) in the back as he’ll come along on the occasional journey too. It’s proven that advertising on your work vehicle really works, so if you see the van parked up or out and …
Bed in walnut
This is a bed we were commissioned to make a couple of years ago, and we still think it looks great today – made in walnut, a prized cabinetmaking wood which is strong and beautiful at the same time. If you’d like us to make you something similar and just as individual for your bedroom, please contact us here.
Are you on Twitter?
Are you on Twitter? We are, and you can converse with us or follow Mark Williamson Furniture on Twitter at @MarkWFurniture. While 90% of the stuff that gets posted onto Twitter is complete junk – self-deluded X Factor dropouts or über-chic supermodels taking ‘selfies’ of themselves in their ‘onesies’, we think that for business and customer interaction, Twitter can actually …
Love your shoes
Shoes don’t really get looked after well by most of us – come in through the door, kick them off, and they’re likely to end up in some dusty corner, or disappear underneath an even dustier sofa. We think shoes should be treated better, and so when we build and design our wardrobes, we always try and incorporate some intelligent …
From the great to the small
Not all our work consists of large furniture. We also like to make smaller objects in wood, such as this book end. Have a look in our small items gallery for some more inspiration. Ideal Christmas presents for your loved ones!
Work in progress – bespoke fitted bedroom wardrobes
More works in progress in our workshop. These are fitted wardrobes, made to measure for a client’s bedroom. The interiors are made in lacquered oak, and the exteriors are painted white. The doors and side parts are made of a frame and panel construction with a bead detail (see the photo above), and all the painted components are constructed …
